Customer Comments: Greg, I have an outdoor fireplace and with all the damn no burn days I want to insert a gas log setup—I have the gas line in. Look forward to hearing from you and suggestions on converting from real logs to a gas log setup. Too many damn no burn days! Thanks.
Our Comments: Based on your size, I recommend using an 18" gas log with a stainless steel 3-burner for outdoors. I would use a match-light system as they are less problematic, especailly outdoors where a slight breeze can blow out a safety pilot. I also suggest having a flat screen or glass door to keep animals out. The Glass doors will help keep the glowing embers from being blown around as well. I included a couple examples, but we can explore the screens and doors further if you like.

This is a heavy duty stainless steel burner system designed specifically for use outdoors. It is a match-light burner, so you light a long match or lighter and turn on the gas to start the fire. The burner has a lifetime warranty and the logs have a 5 year warranty when used outdoors.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
