Customer Comments: We are interested in replacing our glass door w/ screen to glass doors with a blower to increase the efficiency of our fireplace and improve the looks. So we note you have a door above setup with an external blower and a blower inside the box setup. We’d like to see pictures of blower installations. A question we have is how difficult is it to clean the ashes? Another is what sort of efficiency can we expect? We burn only dry hardwood, oak, walnut, hickory, etc. but we go through a lot of wood each night and while the room is warm, the draw of the f.p. Makes the house cold.
Our Comments: After our subsequent communications, here are 3 doors shown with both of the blowers. The Grate Heater is more heavy duty and comes with a thermostat for the fan, which turns on when the internatl thermostat reaches 110 degrees and turns of at 90 degrees. This ensures the fan will not overheat when you build a fire. The internal mechanism is well insulated and designed to handle the heat inside the fireplace. The Airculator must be turned on and off manually, which is less convenient and requires you to wait for the fire to die out before retiring, otherwise, it will blow cold air into the room if you leave the fan running all night.

Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat. Ceramic glass can handle temperatures up to about 1450F. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, we highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass.
Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 28" H
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
