Customer Comments: I just want a screen type not glass. My concern was the height of all screen I looked at. Seeing as how the fireplace is elevated, it seems very hard to find the correct screen. The tiled area between the framed mantle is 50 inches wide x 49 inches high. I would also like a poker kit.
Our Comments: Here are a variety of free standing screens that can be custom made to fit your fireplace from low to high-end. Single panel screens require rear feet that are 2" to 5" long, which make them stand away from the fireplace because of the raised opening. Bowed screens can go right up to the tile.

Wire mesh is most commonly used because it is easier to see through and does blocks less heat. Perforated mesh is very rigid and sturdy, but it is a bit harder to see through and tends to block more heat. I only recommend perforated mesh for larger fireplace screens that would otherwise require horizontal support bars when made with wire mesh. Horizontal support bars tend to change the look of a screen and obstruct the view of the fire, so they may be less desireable than perforated mesh.
Note: Hearth Creations outdoor fireplace screens made from 304 stainless steel are only available with perforated mesh.
