Customer Comments: The fireplace opening is 41" x 44". This is a woodburning fireplace. Looking for suggestions. The hardware in my home is unlacquered brass. Excuse the mess. We are obviously still working on this project. There will be glass doors on the cabinets on either side of the fireplace with black drawer fronts and cabinet doors with unlacquered brass knobs. (What type of screen do you want?) Not exactly sure. Probably mesh free standing screen. Either a single panel or multiple panels. No doors.
Our Comments: Below you will find quite the selection of options. Because the fireplace is raised in the wall, single panel screens cannot be set flush to the wall unless you remove the rear legs. By doing so, the screen will not stand on its own when you move it to tend the fire, so you must lean it against something. 3-fold screens look great, but also must be set aside on the wood floor when tending the fire, so they are not completely convenient. For this reason, I have included a couple of mesh doors because they are in fact the most functional and convenient. I also included mesh curtains. All of these are made from solid brass and can be provided with a baked enamel or unfinished.

Fireplace Opening: 44" W x 41" H (from floor?)
These screens are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass at Stone Manufacturing USA. Very high end, and very refined. They can be made in a highly polished brass or a duller hand polished finish with a baked enamel that never requires polish, or they can be made unfinished to develop a natural patina or be occassionally polished by hand. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8" from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 1450F and be in direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass. Ceramic glass is $800-$2000 more than tempered glass depending on the manufacturer.
Not all doors are available with all of these glass options.
