Our Comments: Here are several ways to treat these fireplaces with curtain screens. I also included a glass door with curtain screens that seemed appropriate for the style.

Mesh curtains are a very traditional fireplace treatment that is both functional and convenient to use. You can have them made with just the top bar, top and bottom bar, or with 3-Sided or 4-Sided frames. The bottom bar and fully framed versions help prevent logs and ashes from rolling out of the fireplace onto the hearth.
