Customer Comments: I have a small fireplace on a covered patio and I would like to have a fireplace screen made for it. The fireplace opening measures 22.5” wide and 24.5” high. The fireplace is approximately 47 from the ground on the wall.
Our Comments: Below are several different types of treatments that are appropriate for this type of fireplace from low to high end including mesh curtains, wire mesh doors and glass doors.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: For outdoor fireplaces, doors with tempered glass should be left open when burning a fire, otherwise the thermal shock caused by the quick change in temperature can shatter the glass. Ceramic glass can handle sudden temperature changes, as well as constant heat up to about 1450F with direct flame contact. If you want the ability to burn continuous fires with the doors closed, you need ceramic glass.

Mesh curtains will be the least expensive treatment. For raised fireplaces, you should have a top and bottom bar or 4-sided frame to help prevent ashes and logs from rolling out of the fireplace. The frame and mesh curtains are made from stainless steel to reduce rust from outdoor moisture.

Option #2: 4-Sided Stainless Steel Outdoor Fireplace Framed Mesh Curtains in Black.
Aluminum is an excellent material for outdoor fireplaces doors because it does not rust and can handle relatively high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is not as heavy duty and rugged as stainless steel or wrought iron, but it is the most affordable.

Stainless Steel is an ideal material for outdoor fireplaces. It is heavy duty and resists rust and has a very solid feel and appearance.

Hand forged by a blacksmith from 1/4" thick solid wrought iron with heavy duty hinges and powder coat finish. Not only are these built to be used, they take on a more rugged natural look for those who appreciate craftsmanship and tasteful details. These doors are most commonly ordered with ceramic glass for burning fires with the doors closed.
