Single Panel Screens for Stone Fireplace - Project #21358

Customer Comments: Looking for a custom fireplace screen. The dimensions are 41”w and 38” h. See the attached pictures. I want just a flat screen with no bars or doors in matte black. The third photo is an example of what I’m looking for. Thank you

Our Comments: Not sure if the dimensions you provided are for the size of the opening or the size you want the screen made. It makes a difference for some brands since they are limited to 40" tall before additional supports or special perforated mesh is required (Read Perforated vs Wire Mesh Below). In either case, because of the irregular stone, I recommend having the screen made 3" larger than the opening on the top and each side. Here are some examples.

Perforated Mesh vs Wire Mesh

Wire mesh is most commonly used because it is easier to see through and does blocks less heat. Perforated mesh is very rigid and sturdy, but it is a bit harder to see through and tends to block more heat. I only recommend perforated mesh for larger fireplace screens that would otherwise require horizontal support bars when made with wire mesh. Horizontal support bars tend to change the look of a screen and obstruct the view of the fire, so they may be less desireable than perforated mesh.

Note: Hearth Creations outdoor fireplace screens made from 304 stainless steel are only available with perforated mesh.
