Mesh Curtains for Large Outdoor Fireplace - Project #21309

Customer Comments: We are thinking hanging mesh screen from a top channel running entire length under top mantle. Channel and screen in black. Intention is to have screen protection when burning wood, have it disappear, be easily opened/closed (glass doors will be unwieldy). Open to other design suggestions. We want modern, clear, not a major focal point. Firebox is 48.5” wide x 36.5” tall x 22” deep (for scale). Mantle is 80” wide x 5.25” deep overhang in front of/above firebox.

Our Comments: Mesh curtains are a great choice for this type of fireplace. The outdoor mesh curtains shown below are made using all stainless steel components and can be painted black or made in a satin stainless finish. They can be made with an optional bottom bar that helps prevent logs and ashes from rolling out of the fireplace and leaving burn marks on the hearth stone. These will incorporate a rigid I-Beam track and roller system instead of a typical curtain rod tends to sag, which causes the mesh to drag. I also included a couple of high-end Mid-Century fireplace grates to finish things off and create a striking minimalist look.
