Customer Comments: Hello Greg, I am looking for Ceramic Glass Doors. I am hoping I will be able to close the doors while having a fire to keep more heat in the house. Our fireplace has a blower on it but without being able to close doors I think a lot of heat escapes. The fireplace we have is a Majestic SA36C. Thank you.

Our Comments: I have no custom made glass doors that can be made with ceramic glass for this fireplace. Ceramic glass is generally used for masonry fireplaces only. However, I have two doors I can recommend for your application that have tempered glass and can be burned with the doors closed. Keep in mind that the Majestic factory made doors that were available for this fireplace were made with tempered glass as well, so these doors are sufficient for your needs as long as you build reasonbale safe fires.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
