Customer Comments: This is a prefabricated fireplace. I don’t have a built-in screen or doors.
Our Comments: The damper control just above the opening limits the doors you can use to those that can be made to fit inside the fireplace. Below are a few choices that will work nicely. The first option is the least expensive, but reqires drilling into the metal inside for installation. The other options all use a Quick and Easy pressure mount systems that do not require drilling.
Fireplace Opening: Unkown
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Stiletto Aluminum Bifold Fireplace Door in Black with Tempered Glass and Mesh Curtains. Requires drilling for installation.
Option #2: Hearth Creations Profile-3 Aluminum Bifold Fireplace Door in Black with Brite Nickel Anodized Doors, Gray Glass and Gate Mesh Backup Doors. Uses Quick and Easy Pressure Mount System.
These doors are made from heavy duty solid steel with a unique hidden frame that mounts to the fireplace inside using the Quick and Easy Pressure Mount System. The doors stand about 1" out from the frame, which allows them to operate without handles, creating a very clean-modern look.
Option #3: Hearth Creations Modern-1 Sleek Steel Bifold Fireplace Door with No Visible Handles in Black with Gray Glass and Gate Mesh Backup Doors.
Option #4: Hearth Creations Modern-1 Sleek Steel Bifold Fireplace Door with No Visible Handles in Black with Brushed Chrome Doors, Gray Glass and Gate Mesh Backup Doors.
Measure the width and height and depth of the metal opening as indicated in the diagram above.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
