Customer Comments: The opening of the fireplace is 42" W x 27.5" H. I think the screen should be about 45w x 29 h which would fit inside of the first edge of stone before it angles out. Just need something pretty simple as you can see the room has a lot going on.
Our Comments: Looks like either polished brass or black with polished brass is in order for this modern room. Here are some different types of screens that can be made in those finishes to fit your fireplace.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8" from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle temperatures up to about 1450F and can have direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass.

One of the more elegant and simple treatments is a free standing glass screen. This provides the most modern look with minimal design. This type of screen is purely decorative and must be at least 8" away from the fire when it is on. You cannot use this screen if you plan on removing the gas logs and burning real wood. Ultra-Clear Low Iron glass is very clear with blue reflective edges for a more elegant contemporary look, while standard clear glass is less expensive and has a green hue.
Option #1: PW Free Standing Glass Fireplace Screen with Polished Brass Plated Feet and Ultra-Clear Low Iron Glass.
Referred to as a "Bar and Mesh", these sliding mesh curtains are plain and simple and have been used for decades for their simple non-obtrusive look and function.
Single Panel Free Standing Fireplace Screens can be made to fit flat against the fireplace opening for a simple non-obtrusive look.
Option #3: PW Solid Brass Single Panel Fireplace Screen with Traditional Feet and Waterfall Handles in Polished Brass.
Option #4: PW Black Steel Single Panel Fireplace Screen with Brass Plated Angle Feet and Barrel Handles.
Glass doors are an excellent choice for fireplaces with gas logs because the damper must be propped open permanently. Keeping the doors closed when the gas logs are not being used helps reduce the cold air that comes into the home during the winter. They also provide a clean, modern look.
Option #5: PW Elite Polished Brass Plated Steel Fireplace Door with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
Option #6: Hearth Creations Modern-1 Sleek Steel Fireplace Door with No Visible Handles with Black Frame and Satin Brass Plated Overlay Doors with Clear Glass. Available with Optional AirWash System for Buring Fires with Doors Closed.
Modern-1 Frame: The Modern-1 has a unique design that allows it to be made without handles. The left photo shows the Modern-1 in Satin Nickel with a hidden back frame. The middle is a side view showing how the doors stand out about 1" from the back frame. The right photo shows a wide back frame (not hidden) with slots for the optional AirWash system that allows air to flow freely into the fireplace so you can burn fires with the doors closed.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
