Customer Comments: We have a corner fireplace that we just re-did. We are contemplating replacing the mesh with either new mesh or glass. And were curious as to options and pricing. The opening is roughly 26 inches high, the front-facing part 41 inches wide and the side-facing part 20 inches wide.
Our Comments: Here are some examples of glass doors made from aluminum on the low end and wrought iron on the high end. The aluminum doors fit inside with a glass to glass corner, leaving the post exposed. The wrought iron doors fit on the outside with a wider frame that hides the post. Both can be made with cabinet or bifold doors on the front and a fixed glass pane or functional door on the side.
Important Note: This is a prefabricated fireplace framed into the home with wood construction. Fires should be burned with the glass doors open to prevent the fireplace from overheating.
Fireplace Opening: 41" W (Front) x 20" W (Side) x 26" H
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
