Customer Comments: We believe we are looking for single pane fireplace screen instead of doors so that our view of the fire itself is not blocked but open to suggestions. I am a little worried of having to move the screen all the time to replenish the wood. The fireplace opening is 49" wide at the widest point and 29 1/2" tall and its tallest point. The furniture is wrought iron or wicker and all the fixtures are black as you can see in the pictures. We have a grate already but do need fireplace utensils.
Our Comments: Here are some options including free standing screens, attached mesh doors and attached glass doors. Each are made for outdoor applications. Each option is shown with a zinc coated wrought iron outdoor fireplace toolset.
Fireplace Opening: 49" W x 29 1/2" H
These screens are made from 316 marine grade stainless steel with a black powder coat finish. 316 stainless resists rust even in harsh salt air environments and is one of the most ideal materials for outdoor fireplaces. Also available in 304 stainless for less harsh applications.
Option #2: 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Bowed Outdoor Fireplace Screen in Black.
Zinc coated wrought iron is extremely durable outdoors and is an ideal material for heavy duty mesh doors and glass doors. Glass doors are the ultimate treatment outdoors as they can be closed when it starts to get windy to keep smoke and sparks from blowing about. You can have mesh curtains or gate mesh backup doors behind the glass for spark protection when the doors are open.
Option #3: Hand Crafted Zinc Coated Wrought Iron Outdoor Single Fireplace Mesh Door in Burnished Black.
Option #4: Hand Crafted Wrought Iron Bifold Outdoor Fireplace Glass Door in Burnished Black with Ceramic Glass and Mesh Curtains. Shown fitting inside the opening with mortar to fill the gaps.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
