Customer Comments: Looking for a door for our fireplace
Our Comments: Zero Clearance fireplaces like yours require specialized glass doors designed to allow air to flow into the fireplace freely to keep it cool. The glass doors must be open when burning gas logs, with the exception of doors with a Gas Log AirWash system. I will need the measurements and additional photos requested below to determine which of these doors can be installed on your fireplace.
Fireplace Opening: Unknown
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Stiletto Aluminum Bifold Fireplace Door in Black. This door fits inside the black metal opening.
Option #2: Design Specialties Brookfield Aluminum Cabinet Fireplace Door in Black. This door fits inside the black metal opening.
Option #3: Hearth Creations Profile-2 Aluminum Bifold Fireplace Door in Black. This door overlaps the tile.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #4: PW Elite Flat Steel Bifold Fireplace Door in Black. This door overlaps the tile.
This door is built with a specialized Gas Log AirWash system. The door frames stand out from the back frame with vents on the top and bottom allowing you to burn gas fires with the doors closed. The design is very sleek and modern without handles. This is ideal for fireplaces with gas logs, particularly those raised in the wall.
Option #5: Hearth Creations Modern-1 Sleek Steel Fireplace Door with No Visible Handles in Satin Nickel with Tempered Glass. Available with Optional AirWash System for Buring Fires with Doors Closed.
Modern-1 Frame: The Modern-1 has a unique design that allows it to be made without handles. The left photo shows the Modern-1 in Satin Nickel with a hidden back frame. The middle is a side view showing how the doors stand out about 1" from the back frame. The right photo shows a wide back frame (not hidden) with slots for the optional AirWash system that allows air to flow freely into the fireplace so you can burn fires with the doors closed.
Measure the width and height of the tile opening and provide the two pictures shown: 1: Looking up at the top left corner. 2: Looking down at the bottom left corner. I need these pictures to see how the black metal fireplace is constructed to determine which doors will work and how they will be installed.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
