Customer Comments: We are also looking for a screen for the front that has a heavy metal look along with maybe wildlife designs in it and some very heavy duty grates that we can build a big fire in. Obviously too large for standard off the shelf accessories. Think Cracker Barrel fireplace and I don't want them to melt after a few months.
Our Comments: I have designed two types of screens for your large outdoor fireplace. The attached screen doors are the most convenient and functional and can be built with much heavier wrought iron material since they do not have to be picked up and moved about when tending the fire. The free standing screens are made from a lighter weight laser cut stainless steel so they are not too heavy.
Accessories: Each mockup features a super heavy duty grate that is hand forged by a blacksmith from 1" solid wrought iron bars with center legs for added reinvforcement. Built to withstand large fires without caving in. Also featured is the Aspen hand forged wrought iron fireplace tools made by the same blacksmith.
Fireplace Opening: 63" W x 30 1/2" H
Inside: 54" Back Width x 23" Deep
These wrought iron doors are hand forged by a blacksith. The patterns are laser cut from stainless steel and powder coated for added durability outdoors.
These screens are made from stainless steel with a black powder coat finish. The patterns are also stainless steel.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
