Fireplace Screen Doors Custom Made to Fit Large Stone Fireplace - Project #20644

Customer Comments: We need a 2-door black fireplace screen. 52w x 34h. My husband would like for it to be EASILY removable for cleaning. We would like the screen to be as see through as possible. Just trying to prevent spark escape.

Our Comments: Each of the doors presented below have frames that are attached to the fireplace. The doors themselves are on hinges that can simply be lifted off the frame. These are made from various grates of materials in different price ranges ranging from sheet metal to solid brass. All of the doors have a flat wire mesh that us rigid yet easy to see through compared to some screens that use a perforated mesh.

Mounting Hardware

Mounting Hardware: This is the hardware that is included with the free standing screen doors. A 12" long bolt is available to accommodate deeper lintel thicknesses like yours. You can cut the bolt shorter as needed.

Low End Formed Steel

These doors are made from a heavy gauge sheet metal that is bent and formed into the frame. There are seams where the formed frames are attached to each other. The frame has a 3/4" projection. This is the least expensive alternative.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive formed steel doors. They are more heavy duty and rugged with seamless frames that are laser cut from 3/16" or 1/4" thick solid steel.

High End Hand Crafted Steel with Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans with 3/16" solid steel frame and solid brass doors. The doors can be made in a weathered brass finish to compliment other fixtures in the space such as the pendant lights and door hardware. These are the finest quality doors on the market, but they are only available for a limited time and must be ordered by 9/1/2025.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
