Non-Combustible Aluminum Shiplap Fireplace Wall - Project #20642

Customer Comments: My fireplace was originally all wood shiplap. It was unvented and now that I converted it to a vented fireplace with a new gas insert, the gray area above the insert needs to be noncombustible. I'm trying to get the same look back that I had prior - all shiplap. The fireplace is part of my kitchen. I added a third picture to show you what it originally looked like.

Our Comments: I can provide aluminum shiplap that can be placed right up to the fireplace as you had previously. There will be trim pieces around the opening and around the perimeter of the wall as shown in the mockup. You will need to replace all of the shiplap in the upper section for it to look consistent.

The aluminum shiplap wall is a system with wall brackets that are all preset at the factory for an easy installation and great fit. Because the material is non-combustible, it can be fixed right up to the firepace.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
