Customer Comments: I manage an association, this is the clubhouse. I will need 2 identical screens. They honestly don't have to be anything fancy. Maybe a low, middle & high end version so the board can choose which one they like the best. The opening is 61" w by 33" h. Thank you.
Our Comments: Here are a variety of screens and doors in various price ranges to consider. Glass doors are the most popular choice as they keep the cold air from coming into the room when the fireplace is not in use. This is particularly useful with gas logs since the damper must be propped open permanently.

Option #2: Hearth Creations Single Panel Fireplace Screen with Traditional Feet in Black.
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable. Must be burned with the doors open.
Option #4: Design Specialties Brookfield Aluminum Fireplace Glass Door in Vintage Iron with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
These glass doors are avaiable with a special AirWash system that allows you to burn gas logs with the doors closed. Ideal for see-through fireplaces with gas logs.
Option #5: Hearth Creations Mid-Century Modern Fireplace Door with Black Frame and Satin Nickel Doors.
Turn this firelace into a focal point that people will remember with these hand forged wrought iron fireplace glass doors. Add mesh curtains so you can open the doors when the gas logs are burning.
Option #6: Hand Crafted Grayson Craftsman Style Wrought Iron Bifold Fireplace Door in Distressed Medium Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8" from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 1450F and be in direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass. Ceramic glass is $800-$2000 more than tempered glass depending on the manufacturer.
Not all doors are available with all of these glass options.
