Customer Comments: Hi, We are interested in getting a mock-up and pricing for your screens. Please let me know what the next steps are. I am attaching a photo with measurements. We are interested in the following screen: 1P10M- Stainless steel painted black. I am interested in the below option as well as one with a handle at the top. Thanks.
Our Comments: There are two stainless steel screens for outdoor fireplaces presented below. The first is more expensive because it uses high grade 316 marine grade stainless steel for the frame with 316 stainless wire mesh. 316 Stainless is the best material for outdoors, particularly near the ocean in salt air. The second uses 304 stainless for the frame and requires perforated mesh for any size over 40" tall. 304 stainless is good for outdoors, but does not do as well in salt air. Perforated mesh is more rigid, but it blocks more heat and is harder to see through (see examples of the mesh options below the mockups).
Sizing and Handles: Applications like this where there is a ledge overhanging the top of the opening require the screen to fit under the ledge. We recommend making the screen 1" wider on each side and 1/2" shorter at the top. We do not recommend top handles for this application as there may be the risk of scraping knuckles when moving the screen.
Fireplace Opening: 60" W x 48" H
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
