Customer Comments: Looking for the most basic and economical solution of doors for fireplace
Our Comments: Zero Clearance (Prefab) fireplaces like yours require special doors that allow air to flow into the fireplace. Your particular fireplace has vents on the sides that cannot be covered. Cool room air that flows into those vents is what keeps the fireplace from overheating and catching the 2x4 framing on fire. The doors below have side louvers built-in to the design to allow air to flow into the vents. These are attached with magnets, so there are no tools needed for installation.

These doors have frames designed to cover the entire black metal fireplace with louvers on the sides and are easily attached with mangents See More Doors with Louvers
Louvers can be added to the top, bottom and sides. Modifications to the louver design may be necessary when adding louvers to the top and sides or all 4 sides. Louvers can be made in the same finish as the door frame or in other finishes. Custom louver patterns are also available.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
