Customer Comments: Outdoor gas fireplace on covered patio. We sit relatively close for warmth on chilly evenings. Our dog has taken to chasing lizards into the fireplace and getting soot on herself. We're looking for a decorative solution which would prevent her from entering the fireplace (she's not agressive, freestanding would be OK) but reasonably easy to open or move so as not to interfere with the heat reaching the seats. Fireplace is 40.5-41W by 30.5H Pictures are not great - send questions A/R
Our Comments: Here are a variety of choices that can be made to solve your issue. Leaving the screens in place will block some of the heat from the gas fire. Bifolding glass doors or mesh doors are the ideal solution as you can simply open them when you want to maximize the heat.
Fireplace Opening: 40 1/2" W x 30 1/2" H
Free standing screens are an easy solution, but you may have to remove the screen if it blocks too much heat.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
