Customer Comments: Hi there - we have a three-sided fireplace that sits between our kitchen and family room. Ideally looking for a free-standing screen that wraps, modern and glass, minimalist hardware. Like the look of something like this (See example below). We'd like to keep the solution freestanding vs attached.
Our Comments: After our subsequent communication, I have created several mockups to show possibilities to explore. The glass doors and mesh curtains must be attached.
Fireplace Opening: Unknown
Please note, it was too difficult to mockup the individual screens on the short side, so I am only showing them on the long sides.
Option #1: Stone Manufacturing Free Standing Multi-Sided Glass Screen with 3/8" Ultra-Clear Starphire Glass and Polished Nickel Hardware.
Option #2: Stone Manufacturing 1P10G-VAR Individual Free Standing Glass Screens with Polished Brass Hardware. (Short side is missing in mockup).
Option #3: Stone Manufacturing 1G10 Individual Free Standing Glass Screens with Polished Brass Hardware. (Short side is missing in mockup).
Glass must be attached to the fireplace. They can be attached to the lintel at the top without having to drill into the tile at the bottom, although also attaching the bottom would be best.
Option #4: Design Specialties Brookfield Multi-Sided Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. The Long Sides Have Bifold Doors in Tracks and the Short Side Can Be A Single Fixed Glass Pane or With Doors That Open (depending on the size).
Mesh curtains may be the least expensive option. The bar that holds the mesh must be attached to the lintel and can be made in a variety of finishes. Popular finishes that might work in your application are polished brass, brushed nickel or black. A more expensive free standing version is also available that does not require attachment.
Option #6: Stone Manufacturing C92 Multi-Sided Attached Sliding Mesh Curtains with Polished Brass Headar Bar and Black Mesh.
Option #7: Stone Manufacturing CFR-85 Multi-Sided Free Standing Sliding Mesh Curtains in Polished Brass with Black Mesh.
These are baked enamel finishes, so they are all heat resistant. These are all Group 1 finishes, which are same price group as flat black.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8" from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 1450F and be in direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass. Ceramic glass is $800-$2000 more than tempered glass depending on the manufacturer.
Not all doors are available with all of these glass options.

Photo #2: With your back to the fireplace, take a picture looking straight out into the room so we can see the decor directly in front of the fireplace.
