Customer Comments: Hi Greg, I have a 45 inch wide, 30.5 high and 45 deep natural gas indoor fireplace. I'd like to replace the 30 inch log set and control box. The main side is in our living room that is high ceilings and goes to kitchen. The other side has tinted glass and is an office that has windows.
Also interested in two remotes so we can keep one on each side with flame control. Attached are pictures. The control box is no longer allowing it to stay lit, it will go out after but 3 minutes. I like the The Lava Series: Featuring GlowFire TM Technology, with Burners Embedded Inside The Logs but open to suggestions. What size pipe does your system connect too? Will you provide a mock up and quote?
Our Comments: The Grand Canyon Lava Series is not available for see through fireplaces. Below are mockups for each of the see through log sets I recommend. The Jumbo series logs are double the diameter of typical gas logs, so they have a more massive appearance. I highly recommend for your fireplace due to the extreme depth and tall height of the opening (if you can afford them).
Fireplace Opening: 45" W x 30 1/2" H x 45 D
Option #3: Grand Canyon 30 Inch Arizona Weathered Oak Charred See Through Gas Logs with BURNER-3
The Jumbo Burner is 6" deeper and 3" taller than the standard 3-burner. The logs are also much more massive. Jumbo gas log sets are more than double the price of the standard log sets, but I highly recommend them for larger fireplace like yours, particularly with a 48" depth, which is about double that of most see through fireplaces. Here are the specs for comparison.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8" from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 1450F and be in direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass. Ceramic glass is $800-$2000 more than tempered glass depending on the manufacturer.
Not all doors are available with all of these glass options.

Photo #1: With your camera sideways, take a picture directly in front of the fireplace from far enough away to see the entire fireplace floor to ceiling like this.

Photo #2: With your back to the fireplace, take a picture looking straight out into the room so we can see the decor directly in front of the fireplace.
