Glass Doors for See Throught Fireplace With Louvers on All 4 Sides - Project #20451

Customer Comments: Hi Greg, We have a pass through fireplace we are looking for new doors for. We want very simple clean line glass doors for both sides. Both rooms are getting remodeled. We will be burning gas logs. Thank You!

Our Comments: The challenge is to create a design with louvers on all 4 sides that is not too busy. The final option shows a unique look that I desgined specifically for this project where the louvers are hidden behind a floating surround. I included some gas logs to consider as well.

Fireplace Opening: TBD

Glass Doors with Louvers

These Retrim glass doors are all made from steel and designed to cover all of the black metal around the fireplace with louvers to allow air in to critical passageways inside your fireplace. They can be attached in several ways, including magnets. To prevent a potential safety hazard, gas logs must be burned with the doors open on both sides. The mockups below shown the doors closed with gas logs, which is not correct. I just cannot create the mockups with the doors open.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
