Custom Glass Doors for Fireplace With Brick Overhang - Project #20290

Customer Comments: I cannot find a fireplace door with the frame and open height of 27 5/16 inches. Has you can see in the last picture that the height of the fireplace top brick open sticks out which restricts the heights of a fireplace door.

Our Comments: Most of the doors you see on our website can be made to fit underneath your brick ledge We will make the doors 1/8" shorter than the lowest point from the hearth to the lintel (Metal bar underneath the top row of bricks). Burning a fire with the doors closed is an option you need to consider, which requires doors with optional ceramic glass.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
