Customer Comments: Need glass doors for this corner fireplace. Dimensions (brick to brick) w46 1/2 " x h27" -- 3" dip to platform. Side width: 18 1/2 ".
Our Comments: Here are some mockups based on our phone conversation. We have chosen these doors because they all can be burned with the glass open or closed and can be made in a classic bronze finish that is similar to your bronze hardware. They can also be made to accomodate the shallow 1 1/2" distance to your post. The doors with the DXF patterns are a unique design that I came up with just for your fireplace. These have never been made like this before, so you will be the first.
Fireplace Opening: 46 1/2" W (Front) x 18 1/2" W (Side) x 27" H x 1 1/2" To Post
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable. These doors have a glass to glass corner and must have gate mesh backup doors instead of mesh curtains in order to clear the post.
Option #1A: Design Specialties Brookfield Aluminum Corner Fireplace Glass Door in Classic Bronze with Clear Glass and Gate Mesh Backup Doors.
Option #1B: Corner View. Shown with Bifold Doors on the Front with Single Door on Shor Side and Gate Mesh Backup Doors on Both Sides.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut. These doors can be made with mesh curtains as long as we make the corner frame wide enough to clear the post.
Option #2: Design Specialties Legend Steel Corner Fireplace Glass Door in Classic Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
These doors are made from solid steel with laser cut patterns on post sides to hide the post as well as on the left and right sides to provide a decorative balance. The laser pattern has a black steel backer so the post is hidden when the doors are open. This may require a 1/2" return depth to the frame in order to clear the post.
Option #3: Design Specialties Legend Steel Corner Fireplace Glass Door with DXF-13 Pattern in Classic Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
Option #4: Design Specialties Legend Steel Corner Fireplace Glass Door with DXF-Slots Pattern in Classic Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
Option #5: Design Specialties Legend Steel Corner Fireplace Glass Door with DXF-Squares Pattern in Classic Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
Finishes: If you wish to explore other doors, here are the finishes that are closest to your example below. HC = Hearth Creations, DS = Design Specialties brands.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
