Glass Doors for Large Arched Rock Fireplace - Project #20155

Customer Comments: The nominal width is 47" at the base and slight more at the top before the arch. The height of the arch is 32". I'm not certain of how the doors are constructed, but if there are retaining bolts/plates I can get them to place the needed pressure against the rock wall.

Our Comments: Doors can be made to fit inside with a mortar flange or with a wider frame to overlap the opening. Design Specialties doors with Tempered glass can be burned with the doors closed. Hearth Creations doors require Pyro Ceramic glass in order to be burned closed. Each Pyro Ceramic pane must be framed on all 4 sides.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
