Customer Comments: We are just finishing a master suite remodel and I'm considering door for the fireplace. This is a woodburning fireplace converted to gas. We no longer use wood in it and do not intend to in the future.
There is no furniture in the room yet and our existing furniture may be replaced once it is in. The fireplace is a focal point in the room. The Adjoining bath has extensive rimless glass so that type of door is interesting. The metal Schlutter trim on the tile is made for that particular tile so a complementing color or minimal black framing hardware would be best.
Since there is no furniture I am including 3 views of the fireplace, attached. The dimensions are 37 1/2" x 39 1/2" with a height of 26".
Our Comments: Here are several doors that can be made with a glass to glass corner. Keep in mind that glass doors must be opened when you are burning gas logs, which is a gas burning safety requirement.
Fireplace Opening: 37 1/2" W (Left Side) x 39 1/2" W (Right Side) x 26" H
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Brookfield Aluminum Corner Fireplace Glass Door in Natural Iron.
Option #2: Hearth Creations Profile-4 Aluminum Corner Fireplace Glass Door in Matte Black.
These luxurious corner fireplace doors feature unique designs with minimal frames and high quality hand crafted construction.
Option #3: Stone Manufacturing Minimal-1 Corner Cabinet Fireplace Glass Door. This door has no frame on the sides with an angle iron at the top and bottom to hold the hardware in place. It has 3/8" thick Ultra Clear Starphire Glass for a unique high end appearance with a minimal look.
Option #4: Stone Manufacturing Hybrid-2 Corner Bifold Fireplace Glass Door. This door has no frame on the sides with an angle iron at the top and bottom to hold the hardware in place for a minimal look.
Option #5: Stone Manufacturing SD Corner Sliding Glass Door. The outer glass panes on each side are fixed while the inner panes slide left and right to open and close. This is our #1 recommendation for this application as the doors do not stick out when they are open, creating a very classy, yet functional look.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.

Photo #2: With your back to the fireplace, take a picture looking straight out into the room so we can see the decor directly in front of the fireplace.
