Specifications: The above image assumes 72" between the vertical beams. The door frame must be 1" wider on each side than the amount of overlap needed to allow the subframe to fit inside the opening. We suggest leaving 1/2" room for play on each side. To do so, we will deduct 1" from the opening width. The above math shows the opening width would be 28" centered, or 27" after we allow room for play. The right side determines how much frame we need: 7" + 1.5" (side bricks) + .5" (play) + 1" (subframe) = 10". The overall width of the door would be: 27" (modified opening size) + 10" (overlap left) + 10" (overlap right) = 47". Height would be specified at 28" overal with an opening height of 25" (allowing 1/4" play in height). The frame is made from 3/16" thick laser cut steel. We can add a .75" to 2" return to the back side of the frame to help hide the cut edges of the cultured stone. These specifications will change slightly once all measurements are verified.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
