Customer Comments: I am interested in a glass fireplace screen that will allow us to see the logs inside but will keep our dogs out. I think a clear glass type might be the best, but I am open to suggestions. The fireplace measures 56" wide and 32" tall. I'm looking forward to your ideas. Thank you very much.
Our Comments: If you are considering a free standing glass screen, we do not recommend them for keeping animals out of the fireplace as they can easily knock them over and shatter the glass. For your application, we recommend using glass doors that are attached or a free standing mesh screen. Glass doors MUST be open when the gas logs are burning, so you may want to consider adding mesh behind the glass if you are concerned about your pet getting in when the fire is burning.

Before:
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Stiletto Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black with Clear Glass. The door frame has a 1 5/8" projection (thickness).
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #2: Design Specialties Legend Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black with Clear Glass. This door has a 3/16" projection (thickness).
These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans and are very unique. This particular door only has a frame on the top and bottom, no frame on the sides.
Option #3: Stone Manufacturing HYBRID-2 Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Flat Black with Clear Glass (no side frames).
Free Standing Screen
Single panel screens are great for pets as the fit flush against the fireplace and are difficult to move or knock over and can stay as is when the fire is on or off.
Option #4: Stone Manufacturing 1P10M Steel Fireplace Screen in Flat Black with Angle Feet and Square Handles.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
