Customer Comments: Hello, We are looking for some options to enhance our fireplace. There is a mesh screen on rails currently, but we would like a glass option. Ideally, the glass door would not swing out too far or could maybe slide or bifold in. The black accent metal would be nice.
Our Comments: Here are a few options for glass doors that are designed to work with a fireplace like yours. We also recommend changing the gas logs out for something that better matches the style of the fireplace and room decor, so we have included some options for gas burning alternatives as well.
Important Note: Gas burning fires cannot be burned with glass doors closed even though some of the mockups show them closed with flames burning. We do not have the capability of creating mockups with the doors open, so please be aware of this limitation.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1B: Design Specialties Stiletto Bifold Fireplace Glass Door. Shown with Milled Steel Fire Twigs Gas Burning Sculpture and Black Reflective Glass Crystals.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #2: Design Specialties Carolina Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. Shown with Stainless Steel Tangled Gas Burning Sculpture and Black Reflective Glass Crystals.
Sliding doors are made by Stone Manufacturing and are ideal for fireplaces like yours that are raised in the wall. The two outer panes of glass are fixed while the inner panes slide left and right to open. The frame overlaps the tile and has 1/4" spacers on the back to allow proper airflow into the fireplace.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
