Glass Doors with Smoke Guard for Stacked Stone Fireplce - Project #10870

Customer Comments: Hello, we are looking for fireplace doors and baffle. Right now the opening is too large and it fills the house with smoke. We experimented and found that a 4 1/2 inch baffle does the trick and directs the smoke up the chimney. Is this something you could help us with? Thank you.

After looking further: We picked out the Brookfield Door, in Rustic Black, with the Mission window pane, mesh curtain, clear glass with no bevel and a knob pull.

Our Comments: Yes, we can make some of our fireplace doors with a wider frame at the top that will take the place of a smoke shield. We have included a couple options like this as well as some more standard models without a wide frame. We also included the Brookfield door as you have requested, with and without the baffle. Each of these doors is shown as an inside fit. We would make the frame about 1/4" smaller on the top and each side than the narrrowest dimension. The gaps would then need to be filled with mortar.

Low End Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

The knob handle is not available on the aluminum doors, so we used the Pyramid handles instead. This example is shown with a 4" smoke guard at the top. The door would be made to overlap the guard.

Heavy Duty Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut and can be made to whatever size we want. So instead of adding a smoke guard, we just make the frame wider.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass and Steel

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.
